Share results with families
Learning objective: Share results and next steps with families and staff, and set up a plan for ongoing feedback.
Share a summary within about a month of the survey closing, while families still remember taking it. Keep it short. Include:
- How many families responded, and a thank-you.
- Two or three things families value most.
- Two or three things families asked you to improve, and what you are doing about each.
- Anything you heard but are not changing, and why.
- When the next survey will take place.
A “You said, we’re doing” format keeps it concrete. Here is how the sample center might share its fall results:
Thank you to the 31 families who completed our fall survey. Here is what you told us and what we are doing.
What’s working: 94% of families agree their child is safe and well cared for, and 87% agree their child is learning and developing here.
You said: Since we switched to the new app, you get less information about your child’s day. We’re doing: Starting November 17, teachers will record meals, naps, diapering or toileting, and a daily note in the app by 4:30 p.m. every day.
You said: Evening pickup is crowded, especially after 5:30. We’re doing: We are testing opening the side entrance with a staff member from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. We will share the plan by December 1.
You said: Billing statements can be hard to follow. We’re doing: A one-page billing guide, including how scholarship copays appear on your statement, will be available at the front desk in November.
We also heard: A request for Saturday care. We are not able to offer weekend hours this year, but we will keep asking about it.
Our next survey opens in April. Thank you for helping us improve.
