Protecting families and staff

Decide before the survey opens who will see raw responses, especially open-ended comments, and where they will be stored. In most centers, the director (and possibly the owner) sees raw responses, and staff see summarized results.

Plan reporting with staff in mind, too. Where one lead teacher covers a classroom, room-level results effectively rate that teacher. Because survey data is not used in performance evaluations, reporting by age band or center-wide keeps the survey focused on program improvement.
