Comments that name people or raise concerns

Some comments need to be handled outside the survey process:

  • Concerns about a child’s care or safety: Follow up right away through your normal supervision practices. Observe the classroom and review routines yourself. Don’t wait for the survey report, and don’t try to identify the family who wrote it.
  • Comments that name a staff member: Don’t include them in reports or share them as written. Any follow-up with the staff member is based on your own observation, not the comment.
  • Positive comments that name a staff member: These can be shared privately with that person as encouragement. They are not recorded in performance evaluations.
