Employee Onboarding Best Practices

To streamline onboarding:

  • Send tax withholding forms (W-4), direct deposit forms, and other required documents to the new employee before their start date to save time and increase efficiency.
  • Communicate workplace expectations — ideally through an employee handbook — on day one, and require a signed handbook acknowledgment within the first week.
  • Review the job description, core responsibilities, manager check-in expectations, and other role requirements with the employee on day one.
