Revenue lines for a Maryland center
| Line | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Family tuition | Tuition billed to private-pay families, before discounts |
| Less: tuition discounts | Sibling, staff, and other discounts; shown as a reduction of revenue |
| Fees | Registration, supply, and late fees |
| Child Care Scholarship (CCS) | The State’s payment for children with scholarships |
| Maryland EXCELS tiered payments | The quality add-on paid with CCS for programs rated Level 3–5 |
| Family CCS copayments | The family’s share for scholarship children (often $0) |
| CACFP reimbursements | Federal food program payments for meals and snacks served |
| Grants | Grant and contribution income |
Keeping tuition, CCS, and EXCELS on separate lines matters. They are paid by different payers, on different schedules, and they behave differently in the aging reports you will see in Lesson 6.
