CCS receivables are different

Money owed by the State is almost always collectible, but only if the paperwork is right. A CCS balance that is aging usually points to an administrative problem:

  • An expired authorization or missing redetermination paperwork
  • An invoice that was rejected or not submitted
  • A State payment delay that affects many children at once

Track each scholarship child’s authorization end date. When one child’s CCS balance ages while others stay current, check that child’s status before doing anything else. Do not bill the family for the State’s share.

A State delay that affects every child can still create a serious cash problem, even though the money will eventually arrive.
